Final performance of our solo choreography.

This week we did our final performance of our choreography and I was very proud of how my group performed. Despite performing it numerous times to our peers and teacher, I still felt exceedingly nervous, however, we translated these nerves into our performance which encouraged us to show a lot of dedication and devotion. We were given time to run through our piece to make sure the spacing was efficient, whilst also thinking about our facial expressions and making sure we applied the corrections that we got given in the previous weeks. Because my group were so absorbed with our narrative, we performed full out with masses of passion that we hadn't found in other rehearsals. I found it invigorating to show the panel what we had choreographed and how much attentiveness and enthusiasm we brought to the piece. Due to the adrenaline from our run-through, we did our final performance and it was rewarding. I feel as though we encapsulated our stimulus and therefore captivated the panel from start to finish. Our stamina as a group had a growing intensity that never died and the facial expressions that my group communicated were engrossing.

Overall, I have found this task to be very challenging due to one of our dancers getting injured and therefore having to change some of the formations, whilst also thinking about how we could put our ideas into movement. Despite these challenges, this project was extremely fulfilling and my group was productive from the beginning, as everyone contributed a myriad of thoughts. It was fascinating to work with different people as everyone had their own ideas that expressed their individuality. In addition to this, I have really enjoyed experimenting with different tasks such as the chance method and the translation task, as its been a great way to investigate different ways of generating movement.  I have been influenced to think about using them in my choreography for third year, as there was a growth in productivity when we used them. Furthermore, this experience has made me more confident to express my opinions and thoughts without the fear of being judged with how certain movements look. Throughout this process, my group have been very supportive and I would unhesitantly work with them again. If I were to do this again, I would make sure we had a time management plan as we were behind with our choreography and therefore got a little distressed. Every week, we would work on different sections instead of skipping from one section to another and not consolidating any ideas. This would lead us on to be more proactive so we wouldn't feel as much pressure to get certain pieces done.
